Back in February, Spotify added the option to check out a track’s songwriter and producer credits. Now, this feature is rolling out onto iOS.
This feature was available on desktop application. Listeners could right-click a track and hit “Show Credits” from the menu. They could read the song’s performers, songwriters, and producers. Now users will be able to access the same credits by hitting the ellipses button. This button appears next to each song.
Alfons Karabuda, the Chairman of European Composer and Songwriter Alliance (ECSA) mentioned –
They are making efforts to complete missing credits. If Record labels don’t provide the information, this option will not show the detail.
He also said that plans are on the way for additional ways to correct or provide more details for additional credits. Spotify also mentioned in its blog post in February,
“We realize some of the label-provided credits are incomplete or may contain inaccuracies. But this is just the first step in displaying songwriter credits on Spotify.”
The feature will continue to evolve to become more efficient. It will provide better functionality. It will also incorporate more information from industry partners over time.
