In WhatsApp and Facebook you can easily know when someone has recently have been active. All you have to do is look for a little green dot. After Facebook acquired Instagram, they have been making Instagram – a true social network platform. Instagram has rolled out a brand new feature that will tell users when their friends are online.
Instagram stats in blog –
“When your friends are active on Instagram, you’ll see a green dot next to their profile picture in various spaces within the app, including the Direct inbox and your friend list when you share a post from feed.”
The green dot will only appear for friends that follow you or the people you have had a chat with through Direct. It will not appear to everyone else. If you don’t want others to see when you are online, you can simply hide your online status by going to Settings > Activity Status and disable the feature. If you disable the feature, you won’t be able to see others’ online status on Instagram. Instagram said in the blog –
“DMing friends and connecting over the content you love is more fun when you know your friends are there to see it. This update gives you the ability to have more of those realtime conversations while giving you the control to hide your status altogether.”
