Instagram is rolling out a new feature for their users. Users will be able to send a message to their friends with GIFs in Instagram Direct. The GIF support is powered by Giphy. The new feature is available on both platforms: Android and iOS.
You can search trending GIFs or search for specific keywords or choose a random option to send a surprise GIF. Every GIF will include its creator’s credentials. This way people will know who has created the GIF. Instagram will add “see all by creators” option for users to search GIF by the creators.
Instagram mentioned in its blog – you will be able to express yourself in countless visual ways. Users will be able to send animated GIFs in a direct one-on-one message or group chat. It is also testing a new feature called “Regram”. This seamless sharing feature will allow users to share posts from other accounts to their own feed. This feature will come to the platform soon.
This new “share to feed” option will appear in the top-right corner of every post. Resharing is still in early development stage. Instagram’s co-founder Kevin Systrom said –
“Resharing has been debated a lot internally and the company is finding ways to implement it soon enough.”
For better user experience, Instagram is testing a new feature to hide hashtags from a post’s captions. This feature will be useful for users to reach a larger audience. This feature will limit the post’s viewability to specific locations. The feature is useful for brands and companies who want to limit their business in certain regions. Though this feature is in testing mode.
Instagram is making constant efforts to engage more users. Earlier this year, Instagram rolled out green dot feature that will tell users when their friends are online.
