YouTube is the most popular video streaming service and it is preferred as the first option by scores of content creators and millions of users around the world. In March, 2018 YouTube revealed that it was releasing dark mode for mobile apps, starting from iOS version. Earlier Apple included a dark mode into the latest macOS Mojave build that darkens all elements on screen to offer a predominantly darker experience. Now finally, Android users will get YouTube dark mode after a wait of four long months.
After Apple, Google finally answered the pleas of the masses to bring dark mode to YouTube. The dark mode was first added for YouTube on the desktop late last year. Moreover, iOS users also could dark mode on their YouTube. At that time, Android users were said to receive this feature soon. The company said that this feature has become one of the most requested feature for its apps.
This dark theme has more of a dark gray tone than a pure black tone. Though YouTube for Android dark mode has been rolled out quietly as Google didn’t make any formal announcement that this mode will be available now for Android users. Now Android users can find this new feature applied automatically with a pop-up at the bottom of the screen which mentions that this feature is available now.
The “Dark Theme” toggle can be located in the Setting menu. It is listed under the general menu just below the “Remind me to take a break” feature. You can also switch back to the light theme. You can choose the theme mode according to your choice. As users will get an option to turn off the mode.
